Kamala Harris

Kamala Devi Harris is an American politician from the United States. Born October 20, 1964, she was the 49th Vice President of the United States. She is the first woman elected vice president, and is also the most powerful female officer in American history. Harris is a member of the Democratic Party and was previously the attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017. In addition she served as the United States senator representing California between 2017 and 2021. Harris was born in Oakland. Harris received her law degree from Howard University. She started her career with the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. After that, she was enlisted to join the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was elected San Francisco District Attorney. Harris was elected Attorney-General of California in 2010, and was elected again in 2014. From 2017 to 2021, Harris was the junior United States senator for California. Harris defeated Loretta Martinez in the 2016 Senate election to become the 2nd African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. She was a senator who advocated for health care and federal de-scheduling of cannabis. A pathway to citizenship for immigrants who are not legally recognized. The DREAM Act bans assault weapons and progressive tax reform. She is most famous for her pointed questions of Trump administration officials during Senate hearings.
